At Middle Way Acupuncture Institute (MWAI), we are dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality acupuncture treatments to our community. Our services are provided by advanced acupuncture interns who work under the supervision of licensed practitioners, each with over 10 years of experience in traditional Chinese medicine and holistic healthcare.
What to Expect During Your First Visit
We recommend new patients arrive a few minutes early for their initial appointment. The intake form is available at the clinic, but you can also download it to complete in advance. This will help speed up your initial intake process. Please plan to set aside up to two hours for your consultation and treatment.
To accommodate patients and interns with chemical sensitivities and aid in your diagnosis, we kindly ask that you refrain from wearing fragrance to your appointments.
During your visit, you will sit down with our student interns, who will ask you questions about your health and lifestyle. Part of the examination process includes pulse-taking and tongue diagnosis based on East Asian medical theory. This information will help us create an appropriate treatment plan for you. Please be candid about all aspects of your life, both physical and mental, as every detail you provide will be included in your treatment plan. Rest assured, all information is kept confidential and secure in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Once the preliminary examination is complete, the intern will discuss their findings with their supervisor and develop a treatment plan for the session. The intern will then use fine, flexible, and sterile single-use needles to perform your acupuncture treatment. You can expect to feel a mild sensation or warmth at the needle insertion sites. Other treatment modalities may also be included, and both the interns and supervisors will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

All of our interns are supervised throughout your visit. They undergo rigorous training to learn the intricacies of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Our students are trained to provide safe, high-quality, compassionate care in a relaxed and natural environment.
