Extraordinary Vessels and the Constitution
This class lays the foundation for understanding the fundamentals of the 8 Extraordinary Vessels. We will look through the lenses of several trinities (Jing/Qi/Shen, Wei/Ying/Yuan, Heaven/Humanity/Earth) to differentiate the way that the energetics of the 8x Vessels can be applied in the treatment room and in personal cultivation.
We explore congenital conditions, generational trauma, birth trauma, early childhood imprinting and the cycles of 7 & 8 as windows into the level of the yuan qi. Although “curing” constitutional issues may not always be an option, significant improvements to one’s quality of life can often be made through working with the yuan qi that would not have been accessible otherwise. Regardless of a patient’s presentation, healing at the constitutional level is one of the most important ways to affect lasting change in patients.
We will address needling techniques, point selections, pulses and treatment plans using the 8x Vessels.

- Presentation and Lecture
- In this class, students will learn how the 8x Vessels relate to the other channels systems through the context of the wei, ying and yuan qi.
- In this class, students will learn how to apply the 8x Vessels clinically for congenital conditions, generational trauma, birth trauma and early childhood issues.
- In this class, students will learn needling techniques for the 8x Vessels.
- In this class, students will learn pulse qualities for the 8x Vessels.
Peter Shea

Peter Shea, L. Ac., is a practitioner of Chinese medicine. He is an instructor, a clinical supervisor and the Clinic Director at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC. He has been a professional bodyworker for over 20 years and a Licensed Acupuncturist since 2003. He teaches workshops on the 8-Extraordinary Vessels, Tui Na, Qigong and the I-Ching.
He is the author of “Alchemy of the Extraordinary: a Journey into the Heart of the Meridian Matrix,” published by Soul Pivot Press and available on their website or through amazon.com.
He practices Chinese Medicine at Mountain Oasis Health in Asheville. He lives outside of Asheville, NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
