In line with our goal to serve the surrounding community, Middle Way Acupuncture Institute provides affordable, quality care to the public. Our acupuncture services are provided by interns who are completing their final year under the supervision of our expert staff, who average more than ten years in practice. These interns gain valuable hands-on experience while providing a vital service for our community.
What to Expect for Your First Visit
We recommend that new patients arrive a few minutes early for an initial appointment. Plan on setting aside 2 hours for your consultation and treatment. Before your visit, please print and fill out the forms provided on this page to help speed along your initial intake. In consideration of patients and interns with chemical sensitivities and to aid in your diagnosis, we kindly request that you refrain from wearing any fragrance.
When you sit down with our student intern, you will be asked some questions about your health and lifestyle. Part of the examination process includes pulse-taking and tongue diagnosis based on East Asian medical theory. This helps in preparing a treatment plan for you.
Once the preliminary examination is complete, the intern and supervisor confer and develop a treatment plan for this session. The intern then will place fine, flexible, and sterile single-use needles to perform your acupuncture treatment. You can expect to feel a mild sensation or warmth at the site where the needles are inserted. Other modalities may also be included in your treatment. The interns or supervisors will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your treatment.
